Preparation for Examination of Conscience
It is important that we begin with prayer, placing ourselves in the presence of our loving God.
An ‘Examination of Conscience’ is searching our thoughts, words and actions for that which did not conform
to God’s command to love God and one another.

Spend a few minutes reflecting on the areas of your life that you need to ask Jesus to heal and make whole again.

Penitential Rite
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Mark 1:15
15 “The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

The Fellowship of the Believers
Acts 2:42
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship,
to the breaking of bread and to prayer”.

After attending the Anointing Mass in your Parish, you can download the flyer and prayer list sheet to use at home. By reflecting on the Scripture readings and prayers used in the Mass, you can share the anointing with family members and friends.

Part 3. ANOINTING SONG to be played during the Anointing Service.
Preparing to receive an Anointing from the Lord.

The Priest anoints the recipient with oil and prays the prayer of healing;
Through this holy anointing, may the Lord in His love and mercy help you
with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and raise you up.’

Isaiah 53:5
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed”.

Part 4. CONCLUDING Reflection Video: John Michael Talbot
After you have been anointed with oil (or prayed the prayer above), you may wish to spend some time thanking and praising God in advance for what He is doing for you and your family.

Matthew 6:6
